Obituary

Dolores Handy, 88, passed away peacefully Friday night with many Angels present to carry her home. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Dolores had an extraordinary life filled with adventure and fun. She had worked many jobs over the years, but loved the ones that involved working with people. She enjoyed most summers at Rough River Lake and spending time with her family. She had a unique way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved. She was always giving, kind and gracious throughout her entire life. Her family and friends are very fortunate that even up to her death, her love, sense of humor and memories continued to be shared. She was a strong voice in the family and will be truly missed.
Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, James Earl Handy; her parents, Orville and Blanche Gibson; three sisters, Ruth Warmuth, Jean Zeller and Bea Gibson. They were all missed every day and are finally reunited. She is blessed to be survived by her sister, Marilyn Carter and her husband, David; and countless nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her neighbor, Deanna and Mark who took care of her so much.
We are blessed by the way Dolores lived her life by example. She taught us not only to have fun, but to always be kind and above all else love one another.
Her funeral service will be 7 pm Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy.
Visitation will be from 3pm to 7pm until service time on Tuesday.
Burial will be private at Louisville Memorial Gardens, West on Wednesday.
