Dayton Wayne Dempsey, Jr., “Dwayne”, 59, of Manchester, Georgia, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Friday, March 10, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Sanford Colquitt officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home.
Mr. Dempsey was born February 23, 1958, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to Dayton Wayne Dempsey, Sr. and Julia Carolyn Lord Cornette. He graduated from Irwin County High School and worked for Leggett’s Grocery during high school. He worked for Winn Dixie as meat cutter and a production manager for Landia Chemical. Mr. Dempsey loved motorcycles and was of the Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Cornette of Manchester, Georgia, his father: Wayne (Barbara) Dempsey of Patterson, Georgia; a sister: Cynthia (Ellis) Bulloch of Manchester, Georgia; two nephews: David (Kristie) Cayce of Bartow, Florida and Daniel Cayce of Warm Springs, Georgia; great nieces and nephews: Dayton Cayce, Brooklynn Cayce, Logan Cayce, McKinley Cayce and Caleb Cayce. He was preceded in death by a sister, Tina Carol Dempsey.
