Hugh George Scott, 83

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Huge George Scott, age 83, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb Home in Norton. He was the beloved husband of former Mansfield Town Clerk Judith F. (Goyea) Scott, to whom he was loving wed for nearly sixty-years.

Born in Attleboro, Ma on March 16, 1933, he was a loving son of the late John B. and Martha M. (Richmond) Scott.

George grew up and was educated in Norton. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Scott ran the former Norton Center Garage, a family owned and operated landmark on West Main St. in Norton. Following retirement, he worked part time for the City of Attleboro, driving bus for children with special needs.

A resident of Mansfield for the past fifty-six years, George’s favorite times were those spent with his adoring family. His hobbies included computers, subjects pertaining to science, singing and having the knowledge and ability to fix just about anything.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted daughters Donna J. Scott of Buzzards Bay and Tracy L. Sivak and her husband Tom of Natick. He was the cherished grandfather of Alex, Alyssa, Tara and Nicole. He was the dear brother of Martha Eisnor and her husband Donald of Norton, William Scott and his wife Olga of Norton and the late John Scott, Jr. who is survived by his wife Joan Scott of Norton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Sunday, March 12th from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. A funeral service will follow visitation at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday in the funeral home.

Burial with military honors will take place on Monday, March 13th at 10:30 A.M. at The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Due to the limitation of flowers allowed at the cemetery, George’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb Home, 55 Newland Street., Norton, MA 02766.
