Elena A. (Bizzozero) Waters, 89 of Whitman, passed away peacefully Tuesday March 7th at the LifeCare Center of West Bridgewater after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of 63 years to the late Arthur F. Waters.
She was born in Quincy, daughter of the late Iride and Marcellina (Rigo) Bizzozero.
Elena was a resident of Whitman for many years and was a long time crossing guard for the Regal Park School. Her later years found her behind the counter of Whitman News and then Fleming's Corner Store and Pie Shoppe where she made the morning coffee until she retired at the age of 80.
Elena loved Bingo and scratch tickets and was an active member of the Hanson Steppers at the Senior Center. She loved going to lunch and on day trips (especially to the casinos!).
She was the loving mother of Allan Waters, Diane Valente, Janet Kelly, Karen Kirychuk and Kathleen Engstrom, loving Gramma of Darcie, Meaghan, Galina, Haley, Natalia, Cole, Ethan, Zachary, Callan, and Luke, and Great Gram of Amanda and Joshua. Elena was the beloved sister of Evelyn Raymond of Carver and the late Irene D’Angelo of Quincy.
Her services will be held on Monday, March 13th at 11:00 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St (Rte 58 at the Rotary) Whitman, followed by a burial in the St James Cemetery, Whitman. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 12th from 2:00 – 5:00 PM.
