William S. Youngquist, Jr., 85, of Londonderry, NH, formerly of Belmont. MA, passed away March 7, 2017, at All American Assisted Living of Londonderry, after a period of declining health. He was born November 21, 1931 in Boston, MA, and was a son of the late William S., Youngquist, Sr. and Ingeborg (Beckstrom) Schill. He was raised and educated in Belmont and received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Boston University in 1953 and a Master’s degree from Northeastern University in 1955.
Mr. Youngquist served in the US Army and Army reserve from 1957 to 1964. He worked as a chemist at Gillette Corp. for many years. He also worked many years and eventually retired from Ecology Chemical Company. William loved to travel the world and had been to numerous countries, some more than once. He was also a classical music enthusiast, with a collection of over 2500 vinyl albums. Anyone who knew him cam remember hearing his cherished music upon entering his home.
William is survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister and her husband, Carole and Gordon Hirsh.
By William’s request, services will be private. He will be interred at Belmont Cemetery in Belmont, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Brookhaven Hospice, 114 Turnpike Road, Westborough, MA 01581. The Peabody Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
