NEW BEDFORD — Gladys (Collazo) Teixeira, age 66 years, passed away on March 2, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.
Born in New York City, Gladys was the daughter of the late Julio and Cruz Collazo and relocated to this area at the age of seventeen where she resided most of her life. She was a PCA for many years and worked in several nursing homes.
Gladys is survived by her daughters Roberta E. Teixeria and Ruabeca E. Rivera, and her son Robert E. Teixeira Jr., fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren, her siblings Julia Calderon, Blanche Hernandez, Julio Collazo Jr. and Norma Collazo Porche and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Ron E. Teixeira and granddaughter Elizabeth Colon, and her siblings Wilfredo Jesurun, Cruz Mederios and Angel Luis Collazo.
Visiting hours will take place on Tuesday, March 7th, at the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford from 9-11 a.m. ending with a prayer service, followed by burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery #2.
