Enos White, of Taunton, passed away at the age of 97 in Morton Hospital following a brief illness on March 4, 2017. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late Francisco “Frank” & Elizabeth Silveira (Leal) White. Enos was the husband of the late Dorothy E. Dube and Emma Ophelia MacDay. In February of 1942 he served his country in the Army 8th Air Core during the European Theatre of WWII. A corporal of the 862nd Bombardment Squadron, 493rd Bomb Group also known as “Helton’s Hellcats”. He retired at the age of 87 from agriculture. He was also employed at Rueping East Tannery from the sixties until the early eighties. Enos enjoyed, sports, fishing, farming and traveling. He is survived by his eight children, John E. White of Taunton, Patricia A. Ploude of Raynham, David A. White of Taunton, Enos White Jr. of Jacksonville, FL. June Hunter of Atlanta, GA, Dolores M. White of Taunton, Dorothy E. White of Lakeville and Deborah A. Paiva of Fall River and his late son Anthony E. White. He also leaves his 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Enos was the brother of Robert L. White of Hoschton, GA and Elizabeth A. Wertenberger of Taunton and his late siblings, John F. White, Clarence W. White, Gilbert White, and Mary L. Henrique. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Wednesday, March 8th at 9 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church in Taunton at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-7 pm. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton. Donations in Enos’s memory may be made the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
