Mary B. (Botseas) Nanopoulos, 82 of New Bedford died March 4, 2017 at Our Ladys Haven after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Constantine A. Nanopoulos.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Harry and Akrive (Houreas) Botseas, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Nanopoulos was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society.
She was formerly employed as a nursing teacher at St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing and later was an associate professor of nursing at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth for many years until her retirement.
Survivors include her son, Andrew Nanopoulos and his wife Nancy of Wakefield, MA; a daughter, Katherine Dupuis and her husband Wayne of Fairhaven; a brother, George Botseas and his wife Carol of Stonington, CT; 4 sisters, Roubine Alves of Portsmouth, RI, Jenny Xifaras and Catherine Botseas, both of New Bedford and Photoula "Touly" Harrington and her husband Mark of Dartmouth; a grandson, Michael Nanopoulos; a cousin, Viola Panagakos and her husband George of Acushnet; a sister-in-law, Alice Ferguson of Richmond, VA; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Alyssa Nanopoulos.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 7th at 10 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Cross Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday, March 6th from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
