Obituary

Norman J. Messier,84, of Howe Village, died Thursday, Aug. 25 at the
St. Francis Home in Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Lucille J. (Morin) Messier, a son David H.
and his wife Chris Messier of No.Brookfield, a daughter Dianne M. Harper and
her husband Neal Campbell of Sturbridge, a brother Emile Messier of Spencer,
five grandchildren, Lori Furtado, Jay Harper, Christian Harper, Jake Messier
and Caleb Messier, 7 great grandchildren, Matthew and Jeffrey Furtado,
Megan, Nick, and Jared Harper, Indiana and Haley Messier, several nieces and
nephews. He is predeceased by brothers, Edgar, Roland and Robert Messier and
a sister Claire Audette.
Mr. Messier was a machinist for 30 years at Reed, Rolled Thread & Die Co. in
Holden, before retiring in 1985. He was a torpedo man with the U.S. Navy, on
an aircraft carrier during WWII.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church and A.A.R.P. He was a longtime coach
for the Spencer/E.Brookfield Little League many years ago.
Born in Spencer, he was the son of Joseph and Eva (Duval) Messier and lived
here all of his life.
The funeral will be held Monday, Aug. 29 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON
FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St.
Mary's Church, 60 Maple St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary,Queen of
the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. A calling hour will be held on Monday from 9
to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be
made to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 311 Arsenal St., Watertwon, Ma. 02472
