Obituary

Betty Ann Walraven Tyson, 82, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Tifton Health and Rehabilitation. A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Tyson at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Elder Herman Griffin, Elder Thad Marshall and Elder Jim Sandlin officiating. A private family graveside service will be held for Mrs. Tyson at a later date. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 4, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Born August 30, 1934 in Shannon, Mrs. Tyson was the daughter of the late Willie B. Walraven and Bessie Cowart Walraven. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas William Walraven and Julian Mayes Walraven. Before retiring, she was the office manager for Dr. Flowers, Dr. Aderholt, Dr. Don Smith and Dr. Edmondson. She was a member of Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County.

Mrs. Tyson is survived by her husband, Charles William Tyson, Sr. of Tifton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Charles William “Chuck” Tyson, Jr. of Athens and Mitchell Ray “Mitch” and Robbin Tyson of Tifton; two grandchildren, Mindy Michelle Tyson and Austin Ray Tyson, both of Tifton; two great-grandchildren, Kinsley Rae Tyson and Emery Christine Tyson; five sisters-in-law, Evelyn Walraven, Ann Walraven, Maxine Tyson Franks, Ruth Tyson McMillan and Margaret Tyson Willis; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Bill and Dixie Tyson of Snellville and Art and Catherine Tyson of Sharpsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Tift Area, P. O. Box 747, Tifton, GA 31793.
