Maria da Conceição Martins Torres, age 88, of New Bedford passed away on Tuesday February 28, 2017. Born in Rabo de Peixe, São Miguel, Açores she was the daughter of the late José Martins Amaral and Maria Conceição (Pacheco) Martins and was the wife of the late John R. Torres.
She is survived by her children: Albert J. Torres (wife Linda) of Dartmouth, and Liadora C. Lopes (husband Dennis) of Westport; grandchildren: Glenn, Andrea, Alexis, and Lauren; sisters: Candida Esteves of East Providence, RI, Ines Franco Medeiros of Ponta Delgada, and Maria Francisca Martins Neto of Riverview, FL, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Teresa Martins, Clotilde Taveira, and José Batista Martins.
The family wishes to thank the nurses, and staff, at Hallmark Nursing and Rehabilitation for all of their care over the years, as well as Compassionate Care Hospice for their support in her last months.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Monday with extended calling hours from 8:00-10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 11:00 A.M.
