SWANSEA… Leona P. (Anctil) Sarlo, 81, of Swansea passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
She was the widow of Joseph E. Sarlo.
Born in Westport, she was a daughter of the late Wilfrid P. Sr. and Bertha (St. Pierre) Anctil. She was living in Swansea for the past 12 years.
Mrs. Sarlo worked as a Teacher’s Assistant in the Fall River Public Schools for 15 years, prior to her retirement in 1997. She enjoyed day trips to Foxwoods Resort and Casino, knitting, crocheting, old westerns, crooners and was a fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.
Survivors include 3 daughters; Suzanne Lida Sarlo of Somerset, Gale L. Sarlo of Swansea & Christine T. Sarlo of New Bedford, 2 sons; Michael J. Sarlo of Fall River & Joseph E. Sarlo, Jr. of Swansea, 5 sisters; Bernice Ganczarski of Fall River, Bernadette Medeiros of Fall River, Bertha Drapeau of New Hampshire, Lucille Fernandes of Somerset & Constance Cabral of Somerset, a brother, Leon Anctil of Fall River, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren several nieces and nephews. She was grandmother of the late Holly Sarlo and sister of the late Jacqueline Menard, P. Henry, Roger N., Wilfrid P. Jr., and Ronald G. Anctil.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 9 AM with a service starting at 10 AM in the Boyko Memorial Funeral Home, 709 Broadway Fall River, MA 02724. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 – 8 PM.
