Marion R. (Fitzpatrick) Hughes, a 54 year resident of Malden and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Aberjona Nursing Home in Winchester following an extended illness. She was 88 years old.
Marion was born in Medford on December 31, 1928, a daughter of the late Edward J. Fitzpatrick and Helen (Manning) Fitzpatrick. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system. Marion was a homemaker most of her adult life who dedicated herself to her children and grandchildren.
Marion is the beloved wife of the late Cornelius F. Hughes. She is the devoted mother of Gail Hughes of Winchester, Paul Hughes and his wife Lisa of Winchester and the late Neil Hughes. She is the loving Grandma to Tighe Hughes, Julia Hughes, Daniel Hughes, Daria Hughes, Branden Hughes and Kellie Hughes. She is the beloved sister of Robert Fitzpatrick and the late Ann Fitzpatrick, Elizabeth Gorsuch, Helen Geno, Dorothy Pratt, Joseph Fitzpatrick, Edward Fitzpatrick, William Fitzpatrick, John Fitzpatrick, Warren Fitzpatrick, Paul Fitzpatrick, Gerald Fitzpatrick and Francis Fitzpatrick. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Marion's Funeral on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
