Gerald “Jerry” Lee Callahan, age 73, a resident of Whitman for 26 years, died February 26, 2017 at Brockton Hospital/Signature Healthcare. Jerry was a son of the late James and Alice (McKale) Callahan and the beloved husband of the late Carol Sylvia (Dunwebber) Callahan. He was born, raised, and educated in Canton, MA.
Jerry owned Callahan Fence in Whitman for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed trips to the flea market and local yard sales and loved watching the New England Patriots. Jerry was very proud of his family and his many handy-man projects. He will be remembered as a jack of all trades who was a great mentor. He was caring, stubborn, had a great sense of humor, and loved to tell stories.
Jerry is survived by his children Lauren Callahan, Tracy Callahan-Karachi, Michelle Callahan-Smith, Gerald Lee Callahan, Jr., Paul Callahan, and Eva Marie Miller, and his step-children, Cheryl Ambrose, Terri Harrington, Christina Ambrose, Curtis Ambrose, and Tammie McGarry.
He leaves his grandchildren Renae Saunders, Kelley Sage, Jason Long, Ashley Long, Sammy Karachi, Matthew Johnson, Amanda Callahan, and Joshua Callahan. He also leaves nine great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren, several cousins, and many, many friends.
