Edith Benfield Hoyle, age 85, of Chase City, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. She was born on July 28, 1931 in Charlotte County, Virginia to the late Howard L. Benfield and the late Carrie Smith Benfield.
Edith is survived by one son, Harvey A. Hoyle and his wife, Mary of Chase City, one daughter, Linda H. Burton and her husband, Doug of Ashland, three grandchildren, Harvey A. "Chip" Hoyle, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, Kris Burton and his wife, Isabel and Brian Burton and his wife, Gaby and five great-grandchildren, Zane, Eli, Arturo, Dylan and Bryce. She is also survived by one brother, Hubert Benfield of Manassas, one sister, Ruby Layne of Richmond and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Zane Duford Hoyle.
She was the owner and operator of Hoyle's Grocery and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
