Nelda Grace Griffin, 75, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, February 27, 2017, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, March 2, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Minister Michael Lamb and Benny Grice officiating. Interment will follow in Big Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Ms. Griffin was born October 28, 1941, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late William Cleveland & Edna Mae Johnson Dix. She enjoyed participating in Red Hat Society meetings and was an avid Atlanta Braves and Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane fan. If she was unable to attend games in person, she listened on the radio. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and attending the Ben Hill County Senior Citizens Center. Ms. Griffin loved attending the Fitzgerald Church of Christ and going to eat after church meetings.
She is survived by her sister, Dorinda & Jerry Thompson of Augusta; two nieces: Lisa & John Duncan of Augusta and Terra & Shane Hannon of Bogart; two great-nieces; three great-nephews; her caretaker with whom she lived, Claudine Thompson and her son Dennis Murray, both of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Eugene Dix.
