Obituary

Elizabeth D. Theroux, 91, of Windham, NH passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017. Born in Poultney, VT on January 24, 1926, the daughter of the late David Jones and Catherine (Dean) Roberts. Formerly of Wakefield, MA, Elizabeth was a registered nurse in her early years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Quentin O. Theroux in 1999.

A known and celebrated craftswoman, she held the position of president of the Wakefield Arts & Crafts Society a few years running and participated in their many notable events. A prolific artist she created works in many varied media including quilting, needlework, knitting, painting, flower arranging, woodworking, and sewing. She enjoyed sharing her crafts and teaching others and in later years hosted a crafting group at her home.

She had interests in horticulture and botany and was a contributing member of the American Begonia Society and a past president of the Wakefield Garden Club. She held membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Huguenot Society of America. Elizabeth was a devoted resident of the community of Wakefield, a loyal benefactor to the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library and the United Methodist Church where she was a valued and beloved congregant.

She is survived by her beloved son, David Theroux, and wife Nancy and their sons, Henry and David of Windham, NH, where she enjoyed the remaining year of her life; her daughter, Lois, and husband Sebastiano Gattoni-Celli, M.D. of Mount Pleasant, SC, and their sons, Marco and Luca; and her daughter Mary Catherine Greene and husband, Joseph, of Melrose, and their two daughters, Paula and Linda.

There are no calling hours. Following cremation, memorial services will be held in the spring in Massachusetts. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, 273 Vernon St, Wakefield, MA 01880.
