Obituary

ACTON/BOLTON

Dorothy Esther (Lee) Belseth passed away on February 26, 2017 at Life Care Center of Acton at the age of 98. She was born in Millville, Massachusetts on October 27, 1918, daughter of Christian and Valborg Lee. Her husband, Harold Belseth, passed away in 2007 and her son, Donald Belseth, passed away in 2012. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Lopatin of Reston, Virginia and Joanne Wiggins, her son-in-law, William Wiggins and her daughter-in-law, Sharon Belseth, all of Acton, MA; seven loving grandchildren, Andrew Belseth of Acton, Ben Lopatin of Geneva, NY, Jennifer Hergenroeder of Houston, TX, Erik Wiggins of Woburn, and Jonathan, Hannah and Mark Wiggins of Acton; and three great-grandchildren, Anna and Grace Hergenroeder and Elliot Lopatin. Dorothy is preceded in death by her dear brother and sister, David Lee and Harriet Whitcomb, both of Bolton.

Dorothy attended school in Bolton and Hudson, graduating from Hudson High School in the class of 1936. When World War II broke out, Dorothy joined the hundreds of office workers moving to Washington DC to help with the war effort. She worked for the Army and ended up in Newark NJ working the night shift in Army payroll. She later worked at Cushing Veterans Hospital in Framingham.

Harold Belseth and Dorothy were married on October 5, 1946 at the First Federated Church in Bolton. The couple lived in Rhode Island and California before settling in Hudson, Massachusetts. Dorothy worked at various times at Hill Brothers, Denison, and Design Pak. She was a member of the First Federated Church of Hudson where she sang in the choir, and in later years she and Harold were active at Trinity Church in Bolton. Harold and Dorothy lived their retirement years together at the Meadowbrook Mobile Home Park in Hudson and later in Bolton Manor in Bolton. Her family will greatly miss her warmth, ready wit, and wisdom. She loved to tell a good story but was also a compassionate and wise listener. She loved people and time with her family. Dorothy valued family vacations at the beach every summer and holidays together.

In her later years, she would reminisce about her early life and family, and remember how fortunate she was to have been married to her dear and kind husband for over 60 years. Dorothy will be laid to rest in South Cemetery, South Bolton, not far from where she grew up.

The family would like to thank Life Care Center of Acton for the loving care provided for the past five years.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, March 3 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson. Burial will follow at South Cemetery in Bolton.
