Obituary

HUDSON/NORTHBOROUGH

Robert F. Wade, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Born in Clinton, he was raised in Hudson where he remained a resident until moving to Whitney Place in Northborough, an assisted living facility where he spent the last 10 years of his life.

After graduating from Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Bob went on to have a career in the plastics industry. He began as a manager at Victory Plastics in Hudson, and, in the mid 1960’s, became a manager and salesman at Duplicon, Corp. in Westborough. In 1971, Bob was asked to help start up a vacuum-form plastics company, Mayfield Plastics, in Worcester. He retired in 1987.

Bob was involved frequently in community projects including serving on the Hudson Personnel Board, and leading fundraising for several important causes including the Boy Scouts. In addition, as a long-time member, Bob volunteered in many capacities in the First United Methodist Church in Hudson and regularly took the role of usher at church services. As a member of the Doric Lodge of the Hudson chapter of the Masons, he was made Master of the Lodge in 1964. He served in the army for one year, being posted in Korea. After retiring, Bob volunteered at Marlboro Hospital in Marlboro for the next fifteen years.

A devoted family man, Bob had a zest for life. He was gregarious, easy to laugh, and enjoyed people and being busy. With wife Elaine, he enjoyed spending vacations in Maine and Bermuda. They also resided in Naples, FL over several winters during retirement. As a resident of Whitney Place, he made friends easily and was a formidable opponent at weekly poker games. His passing is deeply felt by everyone there. Bob’s family would like to thank everyone at Whitney Place in Northborough for the wonderful care, compassion and support he received as a resident of the Whitney community.

Bob leaves behind his daughter, Kathryn Faria, and her husband, Paul of Acton; his son, Thomas Wade, of Denver, CO; his granddaughter, Lisa Brady and her husband, Bill of Rocky Hill, CT; his grandson, Peter Faria and his wife, Jeanne of Holland, MA; and his great-grandchildren, Samantha Brady and Ryan Brady of Rocky Hill, CT. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Elaine, and son, Robert.

Visiting hours will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson. A funeral service for Bob will be held on Thursday, March 2, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 34 Felton Street, Hudson. Burial will follow at Forestvale Cemetery, Broad Street, Hudson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Malignant Hypothermia Association of the United States in memory of Bob’s son Robert E. Wade, P.O.
