Obituary

Charlie Alex Barnes, 77, of Anderson, died Saturday, February 25, 2017 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital .
He was born on June 14, 1939 in Malden, Missouri the son of Raymond and Jewel (Underwood) Barnes. He was employed as a die caster at Delco Remy for 31 years and was a proud UAW member. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, gardening, woodworking, and farming.
The true love of his life was playing guitar and playing music with his friends. He was self taught starting at 6 years, always playing whenever he could but always saying he could never master all that was on that neck. Charlie passed the love of music on to some of his grandkids inspiring them to play music. He and Linda also spent many winters after retirement in Florida playing music with music loving friends. We hope that heaven loves his music as much as we down here did.
He is survived by his wife of 51years, Linda (Badgley) Barnes, 2 children; James(Kristie) Barnes of Arizona and Jolinda Garrison of Anderson 14 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren with one on the way; 2 sisters; Ammalene "Jewel" Barnes of Anderson, Margie (George) Bannister of Elwood, and Brother, Larry (Barb) Barnes of Elwood; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Bill, and 2 young sons.
Funeral services will be held at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 2 PM. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
