Barbara E. (Tounge) Giles, originally from Camden, ME, passed peacefully in her sleep early on Thursday, February 23, 2017. Barbara was a loving daughter, proud parent and always loved to be up to date on what her grandchildren and great grandchildren were up to. She was born on November 15, 1937 in Winchester MA, to her wonderful parents, Dr. Harry and Marjorie Tounge. She graduated from LaSalle Junior College in 1957, and enjoyed a long career at Camden Community Hospital and Penn Bay Medical Center.
Barbara lived most of her life happily in the town of Camden, ME, where she made her favorite memories with children and grandchildren eating seafood in the crisp, salty air while drinking a Tom Collins. She taught her family the importance of keeping moments of family history alive.
Mostly known as Nana B, she is survived by her sister Nancy and husband Jerry Carmen of Pennsylvania, her son Robert and his wife Bernadette of Derry, and daughter Elaine Leavitt and her husband Scott of North Conway, NH. She has seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Following cremation, internment of her ashes is being planned for the springtime in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Camden, ME. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
