Obituary

Mildred Arrington Davis, 91, of the West Berrien Community passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Legacy Village in Tifton, where she had resided for the past several years. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Larry Layfield officiating. Mrs. Davis will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Cadwell officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 26, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mrs. Davis’ grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Ryan McGriff, David T. Davis, Brett McMillan, Bruce Dillard, Reid Jones, Brady Tucker and Chad VanOrman will serve as pallbearers.

Born November 20, 1925 in Cook County, Mrs. Davis was the daughter of the late Silas S. Arrington and Mamie Carr Arrington. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, John David Davis, who passed away February 19, 2017; two brothers, Hulon Arrington and Wayne Arrington; and two sisters, Eloise Smith and Mary Jones. Mrs. Davis moved from Cook County to Tift County, where she met her future husband. They resided in Berrien County all their life together, until they moved to Legacy Village in Tifton. Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a member of Brookfield Baptist Church.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her children and their spouses, Laura and Larry McMillan of the West Berrien Community, Linda and Charles Brooks of the West Berrien Community, Van and Dale McGriff of Tifton and John F. and Jean Davis of the West Berrien Community; two brothers, James Arrington of Tifton and Russell Arrington of Glennville; her grandchildren and their spouses, Gina and Bruce Dillard, Karen Friend and fiancé, Jeff Williams, Amy and Chad VanOrman, Shae and Brady Tucker, Michele Davis, Tiffany and Reid Jones, Ryan and Allison McGriff, David T. and Michelle Davis and Brett and Christy McMillan; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The Davis family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Southern Care Hospice and Legacy Village for their care of Mrs. Davis.
