CAROLYN E. (RICHARDS) JASON of Scituate, died on Thursday, Sept. 1st at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. She was 78.
Born and raised in Hingham, she moved to Third Cliff in Scituate in the 1950's. Ms Jason worked as a hostess and waitress at many coastal restaurants including The Scituate Cabin, Kimball's and Hugo's Lighthouse both in Cohasset. Her favorite was hostessing at The Country Fare in Hingham. She also worked for many years at Mass. Bay Lines providing clambakes for charters.
She enjoyed lobstering and gillnetting on the "Blue Heather" with her late husband of 54 years, and the love of her life Captain Herbert L. Jason, who passed away in July. She also enjoyed beachcombing for sea glass, sea shells and lobster bouys. She enjoyed spending time at home with her family, and as she was always drawn to the ocean, she loved visiting Cape Cod and Nantucket. She decorated her Third Cliff home for every holiday and relatives, neighbors and friends were always welcome. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Heather and especially loved her smile. As a youth, she sang in the choir of the Old Ship Church in Hingham. She always enjoyed music including the song "Because of You" by Tony Bennett. She had many hobbies and loved tennis, ice skating and was a cheerleader at Hingham High School. She also attended Thayer Academy in Braintree.
She leaves her daughter, Heather C. Dauphinee and her husband,Frederick of Scituate, and sister, Muriel D. Ferris of Hingham. She is also survived by 3 grandsons, 4 great grandsons, one great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Frederick H. Richards, Jr. and the late Kenneth C. Richards.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 7th at 11 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.
Visiting hours at the Downing Chapel on Tuesday from 4-8 PM.

Interment in High Street Cemetery, Hingham.
