North Andover – Ellsworth R. “Buck” Rogers, 96 of North Andover, passed away peacefully at Sutton Hill Center in North Andover, February 20, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Smith) Robertson Rogers, to whom he had been married for 16 years.
Born in Methuen on November 13, 1920, Buck was the youngest of 11 children born to Andrew and Mary (Perell) Rogers. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He worked as the Operations Director for NuEngland Services, Co. until his retirement at 84. In his free time, he enjoyed inventing things and applying for various patents. Buck loved reading, aviation, and animals. He was an excellent storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor.
Buck will be deeply missed by his wife, Helen; 4 children, Richard Rogers and his wife, Lee of Brooklyn NY , Scott Rogers of NY, Mark Rogers and his wife Sophy of Rosarita, Mexico and Nancy Manchester and her husband, David of Bellingham, MA; 2 stepdaughters, Tracy Howard and her husband, Russell of North Andover and Jody Robertson-Schramm and her husband, Dan of Plaistow, NH; 3 grandchildren, Maria, David, and Devon; 2 step-grandchildren, Laura and Jeff; 2 step-great grandchildren, Stella and Evelyn; his brother Lenny and his wife, Barbara; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Buck’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 5 – 8 PM.
His funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 396 Main Street in North Andover. Guests are kindly asked to meet directly at the church and are invited to a reception following the service. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
