Theresa L. Hayes, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a 3 week courageous battle with cancer. She was 50 years old.
Theresa was born in Cambridge on March 12, 1966, a daughter of the late Patrick J. Hayes II and Gertrude V. (Boyle) Hayes. Theresa grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and furthered her education at the University of Massachusetts in Boston and received her certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling. Theresa was a Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor and worked for Volunteers of America who dedicated herself to the woman at the Hello House in Boston.
Theresa is the devoted mother of Erin M. (DiNovo) Splaine and her husband Michael P. She is the loving Nana Theresa to Michael Paul Splaine II and Ryan Patrick Splaine. She is the beloved sister of Elizabeth Hayes, Virginia "Jenny" Celata and her husband Robert, Christine Lynch and her husband James, Jane Hayes and the late Patrick J. Hayes III. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Theresa's visiting hours on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 2 P.M. to 6 P.M. with her Funeral Service at 5:30 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be private.
