Agnes C. (Cavanaugh) Jarek, 91 of South Yarmouth died May 31, 2002 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility.
She was the wife of the late Julius K. "Jerry" Jarek, and daughter of the late John E. and Leona (Morrow) Cavanaugh.
Mrs. Jarek was born in Lowell and had lived in Peterborough, N.H., and Tewksbury, Mass. Her retirement years were spent in Yarmouth, Mass., and Bradenton, Florida.
She was a communicant of Pope Pius X Church in Yarmouth.
Mrs. Jarek was formerly employed as Assistant Treasurer at Tewksbury State Hospital until her retirement. She had previously worked at U.S. Bunting Company, where she met her husband.
During her life, she traveled extensively in Europe as well as the Caribbean.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Young of Rochester; a son, John F. Jarek of Tewksbury; 2 sisters, Louise Hogan of Lowell and Helen Farley of Atlanta, Georgia; 9 grandchildren, Elizabeth Phelps, Matthew Jarek, Christopher Jarek, Jennifer Jarek, Ryan Jarek, Andrew Jarek, Courtney Jarek, Heather Hartley and J.J. Hartley; and 2 great-grandchildren, Zachary Halvonik and Nicholas Jarek.
She was the mother of the late Phyllis Phelps, and sister of the late Leona Hilton.
Visiting hours Tuesday, June 4th from 9:30 - 10:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery.
