Virginia Dixon Evans, 82, of Perry, Georgia, died Sunday, February 19, 2017, at the Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the Arp Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Victor Lyons officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
Mrs. Evans was born August 9, 1934, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late Elbert Dixon and Katie Pearl Williams. She enjoyed traveling, reading and working in her flowerbeds. She moved to Perry in 1973 from Bonaire, Georgia. She also enjoyed singing in her church choir. She was a graduate of Irwinville High School in 1951. She was a member of Second Memorial Baptist Church in Perry.
Survivors include her children: Terry & Kim Evans of Thomson, Kelly Evans & Kelly of Centerville; grandchildren: Cory & Marie Evans, Brandon Evans, Stefanie E. Rushing & Matt and Andrew Evans; great-grandchildren; Dixon Evans, Hollis Evans, Macrae Evans, Brandon Evans, Jr., Blake Evans, Cody Evans and one arriving on Thursday, Holden James Rushing; sisters: Sandra D. Jacobs of Tifton, Linda D. Weaver & Wayne of Ocilla and Iris D. Henderson & Dan of Ocilla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Alvin Evans and two sisters: Lafern Dixon and Bobbie D. McCrimmon and a brother, James Dixon.
