Jeanette Sumner Richartz, 88, of Fitzgerald, died, Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ike Thomas, Rev. Sammy Smith and Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Ben Hill County. The family will be receiving friends 6-8 PM, Monday, February 20, 2017 in the chapel of The Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Richartz was born February 29, 1928, in Ashburn, Georgia, to the late Annie Lois Kelly and Daniel Thelma Sumner. She was a wonderful cook having worked at several local restaurants including, Floyd’s Hamburger Shack, Sultana Truck Stop, Colony House Restaurant, Hardee’s of Fitzgerald and Osceola Restaurant along with being an in home care giver. She has been a part of the community since she was nine years of age and a member of Dorminy Mill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children: Danny Hollis and wife Linda, Libby H. Moore and husband Mike all of Fitzgerald, Georgia; five grandchildren and their spouses: Wanda H. Dillard and husband Dewayne, Becky H. Kinnett and husband Andy, Keri H. Ryals and husband David, Cheryl W. Eller and Alexander Wood and wife Destiny; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph Sumner and wife Patsy, Walt Sumner and wife Janice all of Fitzgerald, Georgia, Frank Sumner and wife Rita of Irwin County, one sister, Laverne S. Pritchett and husband Horace of Macon, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carlisle Richartz, four brothers, Bobby Sumner, Kelly Sumner, Ray Sumner, Wendell Sumner; four sisters, Frances S. Fussell, Elizabeth S. Hall, Mary Ruth S. Walker and Romelle Sumner.
