Worcester – John D. Gill, 57, of Worcester, died on Thursday, February 16 after a long illness.
John was born in Holden, MA and grew up in Worcester. He graduated from Burncoat High School in Worcester where he was a standout athlete and a member of the football team that went to the super bowl while he played there. Mr. Gill was an all-around good athlete but excelled in football, hockey and baseball. John also loved to play the drums. He loved watching the Patriots and Red Sox with his Dad. He loved his family and looked forward to Sundays together. John was a kind soul who would help anyone in need.
He is survived by his parents, Alfred and Pearl (Allaire) Gill of Worcester; a brother, Mitchell and wife Tara-Ellen Gill of Worcester; a sister, Susan and husband Brian White of Spencer, nieces and nephews.
John held various work positions throughout his career. He loved agriculture and gardening. He also enjoyed annual trips with family to Hampton Beach.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 21 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a funeral mass at 11 AM in Sacred Heart – Saint Catherine of Sweden Church 600 Cambridge Street. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 20 from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
