Gilles P. Laramee, 85, of Berlin, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday February 18, 2017 at his home. He was born in Berlin on December 31, 1931 the son of William and Celia (Fontaine) Laramee and was a lifelong resident. He was a very proud US Marine who served in the Korean War. Gilles worked as a crane operator for Currier Trucking, was a member of Good Shepherd Parish, the Marine Corps League, the White Mountain Post #2520 VFW and was the North Country Regional Director for Toys for Tots. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital, the NH Department of Corrections in Berlin and the Federal Prison in Berlin. He proudly served his country, family and community.
Family includes his wife of 60 years Lillian (Baker) Laramee of Berlin, NH; daughters Diane Legere and husband Claude of Lee, NH and Rachel Laramee and husband David Rothstein of Portsmouth, NH; grandchildren Aleigh Legere, Gabrielle Rothstein and Calvin Rothstein; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Amanda Gallant, Adrienne Theriault and Roma Laramee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday February 23, 2017 at 10 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Military Honors will be held at the end of the Mass. Per Gilles request, there will be no calling hours. The Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Toys for Tots, c/o 1107 Main Street, Berlin, NH, 03570.
