Michael Lee Kirkland, 45, of Carrollton, formerly of Tifton, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017, at Cobb Hospital in Austell. His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017, in the Chapel Bowen Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Salone Green and the Rev. Martin Taylor officiating. Mr. Kirkland will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends, Monday, February 20, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Stephen Rahn, Steffen Pearman, Jimmy Sumner, Travis Hood, Tommy Conway and Gabriel Kirkland will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Wright, Ricky Wright, who preceded him in death, Bill Bramble, Bubba Rahn, Bobby Rahn, who also preceded him in death, and Greg Nikiel.
Born July 21, 1971 in Tifton, Mr. Kirkland was the son of Bobby Lee Kirkland and Glenda Sue Taylor Kirkland of Tifton. He was an IT consultant and loved woodworking in his shop. He was of the Pentecostal faith and had attended Carpenter Road Church of God. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Reuben and Vera Taylor and George and Ella Kirkland.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Kirkland is survived by his wife, Laurie Rahn Kirkland of Carrollton; two sons, Jagger Kirkland and Sebastian Kirkland, both of Carrollton; one sister, Michele Kirkland Hood of Leesburg; his mother-in-law, Jessica “Bootsie” Rahn of Villa Rica; three nieces, India Hood, Jordan Proctor (Ben) and Jade Hood; a nephew, Asher Hood; and one great-nephew, Benjamin Proctor.
