Obituary

Earl Roy Colebut 92 died February 15 peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his sister Maria Baptista from Pawtucket RI, his Brother Lawrence from Mashantucket, Grandson Roy Colebut JR, (Shayana Colebut) and Bevin Ingram two Great Grandsons Jerrod A. Steele, Roy Colebut III, two Great Grand Daughters Jyaida Colebut Dijorrie Perez, and one Great Great Grand Daughter Temple Steele.
Earl was predeceased by his brother Vernon Colebut, Wife Marjorie Colebut, his son Roy Colebut Sr. his sisters Unice and Arleen as well as his daughter Julie.

Earl was a Tribal Elder from the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, a WWII veteran, a passionate motorcycle rider, and a business owner within the Norwalk/Bridgeport area; which catered to Truck Drivers.

Earl was well know for his hard work ethics, strong family values, and his daily breakfast routines, Which consisted of long walks and Burger King.

He recently participated in the WWII "American Warrior-Day of Honor", where Veterans experience a visit to the memorial in Washington DC. Earl Roy Colebut was inducted into the United States Army on September 27, 1943 and entered active service on October 18, 1943. He was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey as a Private First Class, 438th Gas Supply technician, QMC-AUS (Quartermaster Corps, Army of the United States). His military occupation was truck driver and he served in places such as Belgium, France, and Germany. Later, in 1944, he qualified as a sharpshooter. He is credited with fighting in the Rhineland Campaign which was one of the final Allied phases in World War II of the Western European Campaign. Besides Colebut’s impressive service to his country, he also received various medals which included the American Campaign Medal, the EAME Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. Colebut was Honorably Discharged on June 11, 1946.

Besides his great grandchildren, grandson, and sister he leaves behind many nieces and nephews he leaves behind many friends and family that called him "Uncle" Earl.

His family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, February 23, from 10:00am to 12:00 noon at the Mashantucket Pequot Spiritual Center, 938 Shewville Road, Mashantucket, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon at the Spiritual Center. Services will conclude with burial with full military honors at Mashantucket Pequot Burial Grounds.
