Sarah (Furtado) Pettey, 91, of Westport, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. Anne's Hospital. She was the wife of John Pettey and the late Milton C. Gomes.
Mrs. Pettey was born in Fall River, daughter of the late Manuel and Augusta (Carreiro) Furtado and had been a lifelong resident of Westport. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a trimmer for the former M&G Sportswear, Fall River. She was an avid gardener and a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors along with her husband include her daughter: Nancy Webb and her husband Fred of Rehoboth; her 2 sisters: Alice Carvalho of Fall River and Dorothy Michaud of AZ; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Barbara Ferreira and Jane Helger and sister of the late Evelyn Young.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, February 20, 2017 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 - 7 P.M.
Interment will be private.
