Obituary

George F. "Buddy" Lacey, a lifelong resident of Charlestown and resident of Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in West Roxbury. He was 74 years of age.

Buddy was born in Boston on April 13, 1942, a son of Elvie (Kepple) Lacey and the late George F. Lacey. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School System and graduated from high school. Buddy enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on January 29, 1960 and served his country with pride and honor during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged on January 28, 1964 with the rank of Corporal. Buddy re- enlisted into the United States Marine Corps a second on October 10, 1967 and again served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged on August 18, 1970 with the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, Buddy worked as a Special Officer for the Security Department in Boston City Hall until his retirement after 26 years of dedicated service to the City of Boston. Buddy furthered his education by taking classes at Northeastern University. Buddy enjoyed fishing and spending time at the beach. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Hampton Beach, NH.

Buddy is the beloved husband of Annemarie Vesey. He is the devoted father of Brian Lacey and his wife Sheila, Patrick Lacey and his wife Kristen, Kathleen Lacey and her husband Paul Hennessey, and Michael Lacey and his fiancé Stacey Tompkins. He is the loving "Grandpa Bud" to Gavin, Lanagan, Maire, Cullen, Kyla, Keiran, Conor, Declan, Cameron, Patrick Lacey, and to Leo and Alex D'Agostino. He is the son of Elvie (Kepple) Lacey and the late George F. Lacey. He is the brother of Michael Lacey. He is also the beloved nephew of Zelma (Kepple) Lacey of Charlestown.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Buddy's Funeral on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be private. His visiting hours will be on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 3 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
