Kenneth D. Nystrom, 101, died Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at UMass Memorial Healthcare - University Campus. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabelle O. (Green) Nystrom; his first wife, Helen T. (Ohman) Nystrom; a sister, Ingrid S. Lundgren; and a stepson, Roger A. Green. He is survived by a stepson Jon E. Green and his wife Judy of Old Lyme, CT; a stepdaughter, Barbara I. Seeger and her husband Richard of Blue Hill, ME, a stepdaughter-in-law Wilda (Mrs. Roger) of West Bath, ME, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was born in Worcester, son of the late Emma (Westling) and David Nystrom. He lived most of his life in Worcester except for 25 years when he lived in Jefferson. He graduated from the former Commerce High School and Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. He was confirmed in the former First Lutheran Church in Worcester and was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was active in Sunday School, youth groups, and choirs in both churches. He retired from the former Heald Machine Co., subsidiary of Cincinnati Milacron, in 1981. He was a member of the former Troop 5 Boy Scouts of America, the former Mendelsson Singers, the Retired Men's Club of Greendale and chorus, John Ericsson Lodge No. 25 Vasa Order of America, and Morning Star Lodge A.F. & A.M.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street, Worcester MA 01609 on Friday, Feb. 17, at 11:00am. A committal service will be held at All Faiths Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Briarwood Residence Assistance Fund, 65 Briarwood Circle, Worcester MA 01606 or to the Endowment Fund of Trinity Lutheran Church.
