Jerry Allen Bruce, 67, of Tifton and New Smyrna Beach, Florida passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at his Tifton residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017, at Calvary Baptist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Glenn Ford officiating. Mr. Bruce will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 16, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Bruce will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Joey Bruce, David Tyson, Hank Cross, Nate Branch, Bill Pegg and Bill Wetherington will serve as pallbearers.
Born December 7, 1949 in Tifton, Mr. Bruce was the son of the late W. D. “Red” Bruce and Mary Goolsby Bruce. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Richter Bruce. He graduated from Tift County High School, ABAC and Southern Polytechnic State University. He worked as a civil engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation and retired as the District Utilities Engineer. He also served in the Georgia National Guard.
Mr. Bruce is survived by one brother, Randy Bruce of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; one sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Henry B. Cross of Lake Blackshear; and his nieces and nephews and their spouses, Jessica and Nate Branch, Hank and Jessica Ann Cross, Cindy and Bill Pegg and Carmen Booth.
