Mary (Cabral) Grimley, 97, of New Bedford, passed away February 13, 2017 at Sippican Healthcare Center after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Arthur A. Grimley.
Mary was the daughter of the late John and Adelaide (Mendonca) Cabral. She was the oldest of nine siblings, Manuel Cabral, Lena Bergeron, Irene Drolet, and the late Arthur Cabral, Joseph Cabral, David Cabral, Rose Andrade, and Agnes Francis.
She was the widow of Henry Joseph Benoit, with whom she had three children, David A. Benoit and wife Ellen of Acushnet, Sandra E. Lemieux and husband Robert of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Frederick J. Benoit and wife Ann Marie DeLucia of Bristol RI. She is also survived by two stepchildren, Joanne Fortin and husband Dennis of Dartmouth, and Michael Grimley and wife Judy of New Bedford. She had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
Mary and Arthur enjoyed time spent at their home in Tampa, Florida and their New Hampshire condo.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 17th at 9 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be Thursday, February 16th from 4-7 PM.
