Obituary

Czeslaw Goroch, age 94, entered into rest on February 7, 2017 at his farm in Prosser, Washington. He was born on June 20, 1922 in Pinsk, Poland to Kazimierez and Kazimiereza Goroch. He married Janina, his wife of 73 years, on December 26, 1944 in Pinsk, Poland and the couple had three children together, Andy, John and Donna.
During World War II, Czeslaw and Janina were in the Warsaw Insurrection, in 1944, and then they were taken to a labor camp in Germany. Czeslaw was fluent in German and also served as an interpreter. He always said he was one step ahead of the Germans. After the war, Czeslaw received a mechanical engineering degree at the Munich Technical Institute. The family moved to Toronto, Canada and then to Seattle, Washington where Czeslaw worked 15 years for Boeing. He was active in the Polish Home Association and enjoyed playing bridge, dancing, skiing and camping. Thirty-five years ago the family came to the Yakima Valley, where they lived and worked on their farm in Prosser, Washington for the last thirty-five years. They loved the river, the valley and the mountains.
Czeslaw was a devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, and was very warm and generous. He loved to tell stories and jokes.
Czeslaw is survived by his wife of 73 years, Janina; his children, Andy, John and Donna; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many friends. He will be missed.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. You may leave a message for the family at www.prosserfuneralhome.com
