Obituary

CHICOPEE – Albert H. Roy, 91, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, February 12, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home in the Aldenville section of Chicopee on December 20, 1925, a beloved son of the late Conrad G. and Juliette C. (St. Jean) Roy. He was raised in Aldenville, graduated from Chicopee High School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. He was employed as an Assistant Treasurer at the former Chicopee Savings Bank and retired in 1972. Following his retirement, he was employed as a sales clerk at the former Balakier’s Clothing Store and at the Westover American Tool Supply Company, both in Chicopee. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He was a member and past officer of the Western Massachusetts Genealogical Society. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Jeannette C. (Piquette) Roy. They were married on June 13, 1953 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 63 years of happiness together. He also leaves his four loving children, David R. Roy and his wife, Malinda Colon, and Louise C. Champagne, all of Chicopee, Joan E. Roy and her partner, Robert J. Was, of Indian Orchard and Paul D. Roy and his wife, Arpa Deeraksa-Roy, of Pearland, TX; his nine cherished grandchildren, Samantha Mercier, Xymara Colon, Emmanuel Colon, Angela Bishop and her husband, Michael, Michael D. Roy, Christopher J. Champagne and his fiancée, Christina Woehl, Jonathan D. Champagne, Justin P. Roy-Larouco and his fiancée, Vanessa Hooper, and Andrew D. Roy; his three cherished great-grandchildren, Brianna A. Bishop, Michael A. Bishop and Adrianna S. Roy-Larouco; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Roy and Piquette families. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his loving daughter, Anne D. Roy who was Called Home on July 24, 2016; his two dear brothers, Richard R. Roy who was Called Home on October 31, 1993 and Roland L. Roy who was Called Home on January 12, 2004; and his former dear sister-in-law, Constance P. (Roukey) Roy who was Called Home on January 29, 2007. His services will be held at a later date at the convenience of his family.
