Leo A. Gagnon 76, of Bellingham, died peacefully, with family at his side, Thursday February 9, 2017 at Bayberry Commons in Pascoag, RI, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline R. (Lussier) Gagnon, for the past 53 years.
Born June 15, 1940 in Bellingham, a son of the late Albert and Laura (Provencher) Gagnon, he was a former resident of Blackstone before moving back to Bellingham many years ago.
He was raised and educated in Bellingham and was a retired carpenter, having worked for over 50 years for his late brothers construction company Roger Gagnon Home Construction.
He was a proud American who served his country honorably in the United States Navy; he attained the rank of EN3 and was discharged in June 1961.
Leo was known for his sense of humor and work ethic, never missing a day and always willing to teach what he knew. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, camping, gardening, fishing and dancing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Paula M. Ducharme and her husband Robert of Glendale, RI, a son, Steven L. Gagnon and his fiancé Patty Mordas of Douglas, 2 sisters, Lucille Robidoux of Mainville and Shirley Frappier of Blackstone.
Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren, Caitlin Ducharme, Rebecca Gagnon and Ethan Gagnon.
Leo was the brother of the late Roger Gagnon and George Gagnon.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass with military honors Saturday February 18th, at 10:30AM in St. Joseph Church 1200 Mendon Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895.
His interment will be held privately.
There are no calling hours.
