Eleanor (May) Tranes, 91, of Westport, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Heatherwood Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Frank Tranes.
Mrs. Tranes was born in Paterson, NJ, daughter of the late Russell and Lillian (Wells) May and had resided in Westport since 1977. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the U.S. Census Bureau. She was a member of the Seashell Steppers Square Dance Club in New Bedford and the O.E.S. in Connecticut. Mrs. Tranes was a member of the Westport Point United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir. She loved to sew and spend time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Frank R. Tranes, and his wife, Eunice, of Norwich, CT, her daughters, Barbara T. Mills and her husband Skip of Fairhaven and Elizabeth J.T. Nuyts and her husband John of Westport, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Russell May.
A celebration of life to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held at the Westport Point United Methodist Church, Westport Point on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 4:00 P.M.
