Henry Calvin “Cal” Lockwood, 92, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, February 9, 2017, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, February 12, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Dr. Brent Duncan and the Rev. Charlie Solomon officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.
Mr. Lockwood was born December 19, 1924, in Omaha, Nebraska. He was raised by his parents, Frank V. & Henrietta Lockwood. He served his country honorably in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Lockwood had a long career in law enforcement working as a police officer and a police detective in Belle Glade, Florida and as a trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol, stationed in Ft. Lauderdale and Pompano Beach, Florida. He worked as a shipping clerk and administrator with A. Duda & Sons Farms in Florida and was the transportation director and payroll clerk for Sugar Cane Growers Co-Op. He was a skilled craftsman in woodworking and enjoyed adult coloring books. Mr. Lockwood was a member of West Side Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir and sang specials.
He is survived by his daughter, Geraldine Tyler of Fitzgerald; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel Russell Lockwood; a daughter, Marietta Redd Bell; a son-in-law, Ray Tyler; and a brother.
