New Bedford – Maria J. (Ferreira) Sousa, age 83 of New Bedford, passed away, on Monday, February 6, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph B. Sousa and the loving daughter of the late Joseph and Maria dos Anjos Ferreira.
She was born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores. She came to this country and lived in this area since December 1968.
Her family includes: daughter, Maria da Silva and her husband Adrian of New Bedford; daughter, Olga Sousa of Fall River; son, Jose Sousa of New Bedford; son, Louie Sousa of New Bedford; son, Antonio Sousa and his wife, Tracy of Dartmouth; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be Friday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
