Obituary

“BostonHenry C. "Hank" Hansen Jr., a longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Monday, February 6, 2017 at the North End Spaulding Rehabilitation Center in Boston following an extended illness. He was 84 years old.

Hank was born in Boston on October 25, 1932, a son of the late Henry C. Hansen and Edith (Anderson) Hansen . He grew up in Dorchester where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1951. Hank enlisted into the United States Navy on January 22, 1952 and served his country with honor and courage during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on January 18, 1956 with the rank of Aviation Electronics Tech-3. Hank worked for Eastern Airlines at Logan International Airport in Boston as an Aircraft Mechanic for over 25 years and retired in 1988. Prior to his employment with Eastern Airlines, Hank also worked for Raytheon and Northeast Airlines.

Hank is the beloved husband of 64 years to Joan M. (Coleman) Hansen. He is the devoted father of Henry Hansen and his wife Fran of Billerica, Beverly Hansen of Charlestown, William Hansen and his wife Patricia of Medford, Joan Hansen-Smith of Charlestown and David Hansen of Charlestown. He is the loving Grandad to 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Hank's visiting hours on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 3 to 7 P.M. with his Funeral Service at 6:30 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial is private.
