Obituary


William J. Tedesco, a life-long resident of Woburn passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, February 4, 2017 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, following a lengthy illness. He was 79. William was the beloved husband for 55 years of Brenda M. (Collins) Tedesco. Born in Woburn he was one of four children of the late Anthony and Catherine (Breen) Tedesco.

Bill or Billy, as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was a graduate of Keith Academy in Lowell. He faithfully worked and served the people of Woburn as a Firefighter and retired from the Woburn Fire Dept. as the Head Mechanic after a 33 year career. Bill enjoyed bowling and golfing and was active in several senior leagues in Woburn and at the Woburn Country Club. He loved traveling, whether on a golf trip with his friends and colleagues or with his beloved wife to destinations such as Hawaii, Ireland and Italy to name a few. Family was Bill's main focus in life. Nothing gave him more joy than to be surrounded by those he loved. He especially cherished his grandchildren and was their number one fan always present at any school or sporting event that they were involved with. He was always there to support and encourage them.

In addition to his beloved wife Brenda, Bill is survived by his daughters, Elaine Fowkes and her husband John of Woburn, Karen Toussaint and her husband Bob of Reading, Michele Batchelder and her husband Woody of Woburn. He was the loving grandfather of Billy, Shayne, Bubba, Jenn and Heather. Cherished brother of Emma Tedesco of Woburn, Lillian Magee of Woburn and her late husband Paul, the late Edward Tedesco and his late wife Helen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather and visit with the family at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Thursday, February 9th, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, (lower church) 280 Main St., Woburn, at 11:30 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
