SOMERSET – Maria Conceiçao (Medeiros) Gouveia, age 72 of Somerset, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Brighton, MA with her loving family by her side. Born in Ponta Garça, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Bazilio & Maria da Luz (Moniz) Agostinho and the beloved wife of Jose Domingos Gouveia for 45 years.
Prior to retiring, Maria worked for the Fall River Shirt Co. as a Collar Setter for 30 years. She was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church, loved to cook for everyone and enjoyed gatherings with her family and friends. Maria was a very kind and giving person, always willing to help anyone.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son: Joe Gouveia of Fall River and her daughter: Erica Gouveia of Somerset, her granddaughter: Alexia Gouveia, her siblings: Antonio L. Medeiros of São Miguel, Açores, Antero Agostinho of Fall River, Eugenio Agostinho of Somerset, Lucia Oliveira of Somerset, and Maria A. Carvalho of Swansea, many nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late Jose, João, & Jaime Agostinho.
Due to inclement weather, her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. MAIN ST. FALL RIVER on FRIDAY, Feb. 10, 2017 at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Santo Christo Church at 9:00 A.M. Entombment in Notre Dame Mausoleum.
