Obituary

Louis A. Pisano, 91, of Franklin, died February 5 in Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Hazel M (Dolan) Pisano for 57 years until her death last January.

Born in Franklin, April 20,1925, the son of the late Joseph and Susan (Turco) Pisano, he was a lifelong Franklin resident.

Mr. Pisano had worked in the maintenance department of Tri County High School for 12 years before retiring as supervisor. He had previously worked as a carpenter for the Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 535 for over 30 years.

A talented baseball player in his youth he had a tryout with the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1946 Louis hit the winning home run for Benny’s Oilers baseball team to send them to Wichita, Kansas for the baseball finals.

He served in the Army during World War II. He attained the rank of Technician 5 and saw action throughout Europe and participated in the Battle of the Bulge with the 78th Infantry Division.

He was awarded the good conduct medal, the Victory Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Combat Infantry Badge.

Louis was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, loved buying lottery tickets, having coffee and talking with his friends at the local coffee shop and was especially close to his grandson Derek.

He is survived by his children, Joseph P. Pisano and his wife Patricia A. Pisano of Medway and Theresa K. Shanks and her husband Robert of North Attleboro. He is also survived by his grandson Derek Shanks.

He was the brother of the late Dominic, Leonora and Mary Pisano.

His funeral will be held on Friday, February 10 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street Franklin at 9:15 followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00.

Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
