TRAVILLIAN - Louis Travillian, 85, of Fernandina Beach passed away Wednesday evening, February 1, 2017 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville.
He was born June 11, 1931 in Hamilton, OH and moved to the Fernandina Beach area over 50 years ago. Mr. Travillian was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was an advocate with the Nassau County Court system and drug and alcohol abuse counselor.
He was active with the YMCA and an avid sports fan. He loved the Florida Gators and the Ohio Buckeyes. When he was younger he was a boxer in the lightweight division. He began running the Gate River Run at the age of 58 and ran each year until the age of 69.
Mr. Travillian was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Ruby Travillian of Fernandina Beach, FL; a son and daughter in law, Johnny and Melissa Travillian of Ringgold, GA; daughter and son in law, Cindy and Charles Spinks of Fernandina Beach, FL; step daughter, Barbara Duncan; step son, Billy Duncan; step son in law, Bobby Mott; brother and sister in law, Marvin and Judy Travillian; sister and brother in law, Freda and Roy Austin; grandchildren Bryce Travillian, Maddie Travillian, Allan Young, Dreama Young, Cherish and Skipper Wade, Michael and Rene' Armstrong, Jesse Duncan, Amanda Mott and Robby Mott; great grandchildren Sarah, Stephen, Abigail, Hannah, Chase and Logan; and one great-great grandson, Michael.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, at Green Pine Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Those attending should arrive at the cemetery between 12:30 and 12:45 p.m. and assemble in Lane 2.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nassau County.
