Joan C. Marie (Breen) Facella, 83, of West Boxford, Massachusetts formerly of South Lawrence, passed away on Thursday, February 2nd, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Lawrence on July 24th, 1933, the daughter of the late Michael and Margaret (Burns) Breen. Joan was educated in the Lawrence schools and was a graduate of Saint Patrick’s High School. She was a parishioner of St. Michael's Church in North Andover, MA. and enjoyed traveling to Palm Beach, Florida in the winters. Joan was a great conversationalist, she enjoyed talks with family and friends and loved to bake. It was her passion. She enjoyed shopping and was very good with plants. She was proud of her South Lawrence Irish heritage. Joan especially enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends.
She was proudly involved in the Hibernians, North Andover Women’s Club, Quota International, Ladies of Merrimack, Northern Essex Community College and the first and only Irish president of the Italian Women’s Club.
She was the wife of the late Mr. Samuel Facella
Her family members include her children Christina M. Cipro and her husband Brian of Haverhill, MA.
Michael Facella of West Boxford, MA, Samuel M. Facella and his wife Christine of Methuen, MA, Joseph M. Facella of Boston, MA.
Her grandchildren Ava J. and Ally K. Facella and Augstin Facella
As well as several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her beloved dog Winston.
Joan was the mother of the late Stephen Facella
She was predeceased by her 8 siblings.
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, February 7th, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack Street, North Andover, MA.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 8th, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Boxford, Massachusetts. In lieu of Flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 72 Cambridge St, Worcester, MA 01603 or to Quota International, Inc., 1420 21st St NW, Washington, DC 20036.
