Obituary

Richard M. Hirsh, age 85 of Stoughton passed away January 11th at the Stanley Tippet Hospice House in Needham after a long illness surrounded by loving family and friends. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA he graduated from Germantown High School in Philadelphia and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Richard entered into the insurance business shortly after he graduated and ended his career at the Norfolk and Dedham Group after thirty years with them as an officer in the areas of both underwriting and marketing before retiring in 1996.
He has lived in Stoughton for over thirty-eight years and was a former member of Rotary Club International. He was an avid golfer and runner until advancing age and illness prevented him from continuing. He had a boundless love of animals and devoted much of his time after retirement partnering with the NVHS in feeding feral cat colonies in the Canton and Stoughton areas. In his memory, his surviving family will continue that ministry.

Father of Rick Hirsh and his wife Lisa of Belleair, FL, Tory Hirsh of Stoughton, MA and Susan Higgins of Camden Wyoming, DE. “Papa” to Laura and Stephen DeDoming of Stoughton, MA and grandfather of Christopher Higgins of Magnolia, DE and Bethany DeJesus of Camden Wyoming, DE.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Canton on Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 am. Burial private.
